The good news first: All of the candidates we recommended for CTA State Council won, except for Norma Reyes, who is heading into a run-off. That means we’ll have some seriously strong voices advocating for public education at the state level of our union.Now the bad news: Half of our SDEA Board slate won, and the other half lost. Jenny Rivera and Monique Anderson will be serving on the SDEA Board again next year. So while we will continue to have a lot of kick-ass union members on our Board pushing for a stronger union, the bottom line is that Lindsay Burningham and her supporters currently have and will continue to hold the majority and make the final decisions.
