All educators are equal, but some educators are more equal than others

All educators are equal, but some educators are more equal than others.

On Tuesday, May 29th, The Breakfast Club began sharing a flyer that included the SDEA and SDUSD 5-Point Pledges and our Three-Step Plan to No Layoffs and No Concessions.  We shared our flyer the same way every SDEA member usually shares flyers:  We put them in member boxes.  That day, SDEA Vice President Camille Zombro attended two union meetings at school sites to which she had been invited.  During both of those meetings, SDEA President Bill Freeman and SDEA Interim Executive Director Tom Madden showed up unannounced.  That same day, Superintendent Bill Kowba sent out the following email:

After receiving this email, several schools prevented SDEA members, including site AR’s, from placing flyers in boxes.  The Superintendent’s email was cited as the reason for stopping the distribution.  Because we had never heard of needing “authorization” to share union information with other members before, we went straight to the SDEA website to read the contract for ourselves.  Oddly, we didn’t find the same language that the district’s General Counsel had “verified”.  We only found the first two sentences:

Click here to see the SDEA Contract

So we are confused.  Who added the extra two sentences?

This is not Animal Farm.  We can read and are able to notice when someone alters our “Commandments”.  So is there some other version of our contract of which we are unaware and that is not currently posted on the SDEA website?  Is this just another “mistake” made at the same time by the SDEA leadership, the Superintendent, and SDUSD’s General Counsel?  Or, as George Orwell warned, have the pigs started drinking our milk and selling our eggs to humans?

A correction needs to be made immediately.
